You may have noticed that some applications cannot be "pinned" to the taskbar. These instructions show you how to pin those applications to the taskbar.

Go to your desktop:

Step 1

Create a new shortcut:

Step 2

Point it to notepad.exe like so:

Step 3

Click next. Call the shortcut anything you like:

Step 4

Click Finish. Right click on the new shortcut and click "Pin to Taskbar":

Step 5

This may take a moment. When it is done, there will be a new icon on your taskbar, hold down the "Shift" key and right click on the new icon. Click "Properties":

Step 6

Replace the contents of the "Target" field with the path to the application you would like to pin. For example the path to Mozilla Thunderbird is shown. Also replace the contents of the "Start In" field with the path to the folder that the application lives in.

Step 7

Go to the "General" tab. Change the name field to something descriptive for the application.

Step 8

Click "OK". Now, click on the icon on the taskbar that you just modified. After a few moments, the application should load and the icon will be replaced with the application's icon.

You have now successfully pinned an icon to the taskbar. If you have any questions, please contact theCAT.
