The CAT provides support for over 200 Wintel desktops throughout Maseeh College. While we deliver support to many faculty, staff and research desktops, our primary support focus is on the desktops in central Computing Labs.

Desktop Operating Systems:

Windows XP
Most of our primary support desktops, especially those in the central labs, are running Windows XP. Many supported faculty, staff and research desktops have also been migrated.

Windows XP provides the latest advances in the Windows operating systems, and provides the backbone necessary for .NET development. While Windows XP offers better support for newer hardware and technologies, Visual Studio .NET supplies the development environment needed to take advantage of future technological improvements.

Windows 2000
We have end-of-life'd support for this operating system.

Windows ME/NT/98/95/3.1
We do not provide any supported configurations for these Microsoft operating systems.

Server and other developments:

Server OS
Our central servers, designed primarily to deliver the glue that keeps our desktops functioning, run Windows Server 2003.

Desktop experimentation
Longhorn is being tested in house to understand how it may integrate into our future desktop deployments.
