What is it?
Meeting Maker is the calendaring solution used by the
University. PSU maintains a centralized Meeting Maker Server which
keeps track of individual calendars. Access to the server is by
means of a Meeting Maker Client (which either resides on your local
computer) or by a web-based interface. You need to be provided
with a Meeting Maker Account in order to access your calendar on the
server. Meeting Maker allows users to grant proxy access
to other users' calendars.
It should be noted that Meeting Maker
also provides other functionality, such as an address book and todo
lists. Its primary use at PSU, however, is as a calendaring tool.
Meeting Maker is developed by PeopleCube.
How to get a Meeting Maker Account
A unit within OIT provides Meeting Maker accounts. You may goto their Request Form.
Meeting Maker client software
Windows
A native Meeting Maker client is available for
Windows. TheCAT provides a ready-to-use install of Meeting Maker in our
default Tier 1 or 2 Windows loads.
If you wish to install the client on your Tier 3 Windows box, follow the download instructions at the OIT website.
Macintosh
A
native Meeting Maker client is available for MacOS 10.1 and
later. Follow the download instructions at the OIT website.
Solaris/Linux
PeopleCube no longer develops a client for Solaris. There is no client for Linux at this time either.
Web Access to Meeting Maker
A platform independent, web-based interface to Meeting Maker is available at:
https://calendar.pdx.edu
It provides the same functionality as the native clients, albeit
with web-based user interface semantics. Although slower than the
native clients, the web access to Meeting Maker requires no local
software installs and is useful when you don't have access
to your own desktop.
If you are using a Palm device:
Windows:
After installing Meeting Maker 8.7, then download and install the file
"Palm-Conduits-MM-8.7-Win.exe" This will allow you to use your Palm
based PDA.
Mac:
The Palm conduits are already included in the installation folder, no further software is needed.
Tier 3 Windows users may also follow the same instructions.
Sync'ing is also available for non-PalmOS devices (a la Pocket PC). Contact us for details.
