The orientation for the 2007-2008 Braindump will be October 12th (Friday) at 6pm. The location will be The Engineering Building 102 (EB 102).
Fifteen years ago, an intrepid band of hackers banded together to create The Computer Action Team. Through a process known as The Braindump and an environment that rewarded creativity and self-motivation, they honed their skills and helped create an enduring organization that functions as the IT support group for the Maseeh College of Engineering and Computer Science.
It is time to grow yet another generation of system hackers. If you've thought about getting into IT, becoming a systems admin, geeking out on networking, or understanding what it took to be in this biz, you should drop by and see what this is all about. We will talk about who we are, what we do, the Braindump, what it takes and The Deal.
Volunteering for the CAT is not a cakewalk. You will need enthusiasm, drive, a willingless to learn (and learn quickly), a love for computers AND good social skills. Oh, and yes, you should be a PSU student.
Braindump meets every Friday evening at 6pm. If you are serious about
learning systems administration, plan to invest about 10 hours a week.
And should you join, we promise to simultaneously expand your mind and eviscerate your social life.
See if you have what it takes.....
Other than being somewhat obsessed by learning about computers and networks the only other minimum qualification is that you are a PSU student.
If you have questions, please send e-mail to support@cat.pdx.edu or call 725-5420.
In order to join us, please download an application and code of confidentiality. Fill them out by hand, but please print the documents double sided to a) save trees, b) our filing system :) Bring these documents when you come to see us
